Photostory Friday and Design

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Welcome to my world.... We hear that all the time- usually with a negative connotation. But I mean it in a positive way.... This is the view from my kitchen on a lazy Sunday afternoon as I am being appreciative of the beautiful lake we are fortunate enough to live on. We enjoy feeding the turtles, ducks and fish and every year we are lucky to witness the returning purple martins who love to swoop down and get a bill full of water that is needed to construct their mud nests in the martin house. Sunday afternoons are a great time to reflect on the little joys that you have in life.

Wild About Books

Looking for a beautiful idea for your next get together? Look no further! This beautiful tablescape uses one of my favorite color combinations- brown, white and green and is the setting for a wonderful book club luncheon. So many wonderful details; candlelight, the use of the cloche, flowers and fabric covered books to name a few. It certainly makes me want to read! This setting was designed and photographed by MaureenGeorgia as she hosted her annual book club party. Go view her album if you just can't get enough and need to see more!

Photostory Friday - Play Along

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

"I've got rhythm
I've got music
I've got my man
Who could ask for anything more?"
Gershwin

My photo is a tribute to my husband's attempt at design (just to please me). We have a college age daughter whose bedroom has been claimed by my husband as his "studio". And I don't blame him, poor thing, his last space was a converted closet in the family room. Anyway, he wanted some sound absorbing qualities to the room and started talking about foam squares so of course I panicked because I could see the room in my minds eye as this hip room with a sofa and guitars as artwork, etc. I'm sure you get the picture. So when he started talking foam, I couldn't imagine. He got busy and ordered his soundproofing squares and to my delight they were fabric covered and looked much nicer than I expected. He even hung them in a decorative pattern as artwork and at the right height so we can still have the sofa and all of the musicians and "roadies" (which would be me) will have a place to sit and enjoy themselves.

I hope you will grab your camera and play along with anything that has to do with design or your home. Here is a Mr. Linky for our satellite hosting along with MamaGeek and Cecily for photos pertaining to anything home design.

Flowers Everywhere

I sometimes find myself looking longingly into my neighbor's beautiful flower beds and wishing I could have some of their plantings. How about you? Well, what is that? Flower envy? Well not today! I had my own beautiful show and decided to bring a little inside. I selected yellow hibiscus blooms and created a collar from caladiums all from my own beds. Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

Monday

PhotoStory Friday and Design

MamaGeek and Cecily jointly host Photostory Friday where anyone can post a link to a photo and tell the story behind their picture. MamaGeek has graciously allowed a satellite venture pertaining to anything to do with the home that will be hosted here on Fridays. So I do hope you will join in. Any photo -whether it be macros of textures, favorite objects, latest design projects, beautiful fabrics - Anything to do with design that you would like to take a picture of and share the "who, what, when, where or why" of your decision to take the shot. If you just can't choose one, multiple pictures in the post will be terrific too! Humorous shots will add to the fun. So grab those cameras and get to snapping and play along on Fridays. There will be a Mr. Linky up on Thursday nights (hopefully, since this will be my first time- I hope I can succeed at it). You will link directly to your post(not just to your frontpage). Here are instructions, if you need them. I will also post a logo code to include in your post so others can easily link and play along. Looking forward to great pics!

Manageable Size

"You kids today have it easy. When I was a kid everything was HUGE. My dad was nearly four times bigger than me. You couldn't even see the tops of counters.... Then gradually everything became smaller until it was the manageable size it is today."
Bizarro (comic strip)

I found these on one of my last "drive bys"-- ( an endearing term I learned from Melissa at The Inspired Room- meaning a fast photo shoot in the car). Aren't they just perfect?
