Living the Sweet Life!

Want to take a little tour of the sweet life here in the south? Let's start out viewing a tree lined street. We have many streets like this and I know this is a common scene but it is still beautiful just the same.

Can you hear the ice cubes clinking in the tall glasses of sweet tea as you sit on the porch?

A real southern charmer!

A lovely tree umbrella protects this one on hot humid days.

The entryway dressed in it's best fall attire.

Are you expecting to see Scarlett Dahlin open the front door?

Hope you enjoyed the little tour! I purposely selected homes that were built when homes still had distinctive character. Let me know if you would like to see more.

Alice in Wonderland

Kristen Haseenfeld's Dans La Lune is on exhibit at the Rice University Art Gallery. She works in paper to make these amazing sculptures. She says she tries to create an imaginary place that relates to our longings for a better, grander existence. She calls it an "Alice in Wonderland" strategy.

This particular one reminded me of a music box. I can hear the music and see her twirling around and around.

I just love this swing with the beautiful leaves floating above.

Naturally Beautiful

I am delighted when I find natural objects used as inspiration for design. Jon Eric Riis is a contemporary fiber artist from Atlanta Georgia who was certainly naturally inspired for these tapestries. Aren't they just marvelous?

I thought I would share some photos I took this weekend because when I saw these tapestries I was taken back to what I had actually captured with my camera.

A lone lost feather....

A beautiful butterfly....

And even though I didn't take any pics of caterpillars -- the coloring in the tapestry reminded me of this tree with something growing on the trunk and these clusters of mushrooms that were growing at the base of a tree.
Naturally Beautiful I think.

Happy Weekend!

Blue Skies Shining on Me
Nothing but Blue Skies

Hope the same for you!

More Southern Comfort for Inspiration

This living room put me in a trance! I am loving it with the clean and simple lines. The red chair is marvelous-- the perfect touch to shake up the room!
The dining room from the same residence has the perfect mixture of textures with stone, wood, metal and fabrics.

This kitchen from a different residence in the portfolio spoke to me-- I hear it calling my name!
All of the photos are from the portfolio of B and G Design in Hollywood Florida which is headed by the duo of Brett Sugerman and Giselle Loor. The photos speak for themselves of their fantastic work! Visit their site to see more.

Southern Comfort

There is a magnificent duo from Boca Raton, Florida that make up Kukes and Simons Interiors. They are Patty Kukes and Nancy Simons. They like to create interiors they describe as "classic with a twist". That sounds transitional to me, and you know how much I like that! They like to start each project with a rug or another important piece and use that as a springboard for colors, fabrics and direction. I love their portfolio- each room feels so inviting. Visit their site for much more inspiration.

Feathers and Twigs and Zebras, Oh My!

Jessica Howard's line of ceramics was selected as the Best Bets Daily on Tuesday Oct 2 in New York Magby Lori Fradkin. "Inspired by her youth spent on the north shore of Long Island, Howard's Back to Nature line includes platters, pitchers, mugs, and bowls with designs available in black, red, blue, brown, or green. You can mix and match the patterns—field, feather, twiggy, and zebra—to go with your décor."

Jessica is not only a very talented artist, she is a very sweet lady and Neutral Dwelling is proud to offer her pieces in our online shop so go take a look!

When Irish Eyes are Smiling, Interiors are Stunning!

I attended a colorful Celtic Festival this weekend.

Many dancers in beautiful costumes were featured along with lots of great Irish music that set your toes to tapping.

After the festival I thought I would look at interiors in Ireland. And did I find something that made me swoon- It not only has beautiful interiors but it is a fabulous destination! It is the The Clarion Suites Hotel in Limerick City and it is designed by DWA design. Simon Thompson is the creative director of DWA design. Their objective was to create a 5 star hotel with an elegant, modern, chic interior from a dilapidated building and on a limited budget. They certainly pulled it off!

The absolutely gorgeous, contemporary chandeliers and furniture were designed to create a sense of design and fun against the ornate architectural features. I just love the chandeliers, don't you?
I know if ever I find myself in Ireland, I will be sure to pay this hotel a visit.
