Happy Weekend!
Have a great weekend and I'll see you back on Monday and as the saying goes- "Take some time and smell the roses". This is a picture that I took in a friend's garden. Aren't they beautiful?
Thursday
Room Lagniappe
Give your room lagniappe- (that means a little something extra in Louisiana). Look up and treat your room's ceiling. There are many options to choose from. Painting the ceiling is one way to dress up your room, you can choose to cover the entire surface or just paint a border around the edge. Beams are another good choice- and you have the option of staining or painting. A wood planked ceiling gives a clean look. I'm really liking the brick ceiling in the wine room below. Whatever you choose- it will be eye catching.

I think I've found it!
My dream home that is. The designer behind these beautiful pictures is Emily Summers of Dallas Texas. She has been named to the AD100 Architecture Digest's directory of the world's top 100 interior designers and architects. See this fantastic home and some of her other works of art at Emily Summers.
I love love love all of the windows! The backyard looks so peaceful and serene. I can envision myself lying on the sofa with a good read surrounded by the trees.... Wake up! And those stairs- just invite me up to see what other beauty lies just up and around the corner. Hey, I think I could even whip up a little something gourmet in that kitchen!

A Picture is worth a Thousand Words
After my last post, I set out to find example of the greens, aquas and browns being used. I love these two:

Great Color Visualization Tool
According to the paint and color expert-Debbie Zimmer at Rohm and Haas,"Green may become the newest "neutral" color representing the growing environmental movement. Mid-tone hues of fern, palm, pine and sage will be used on their own or coupled with clear blue or aqua to create a living space that conjures up a sense of outdoor-friendly living. Sandy tan and adobe brown can be intermingled to complete that earthy and eco-friendly feel."
Most people have a hard time visualizing how a new paint color will look in their room. Well no more! There is a great tool online at Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute. They have about 100 room photos and over 300 paint colors for you to choose from so that you can see how the colors will look together in the room.

Rustic and Modern
I love the design sensibilities of Monica Cintra of AGENCE ATELIER. She uses rustic wood pieces and creates beautiful pieces of furniture that look fantastic in a modern room. Perfect example of transitional decor!

Mount Hotham House
I found a "little place" that I love in Victoria Australia. It is designed by Giovanni D'Ambrosio of Italy. Now this is what I call a vacation home! The design flows seamlessly with nature.

It is partially inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and the Italian designer like Mr. Wright also designed the furniture inside his creation.

Look at that view! Bring on the hot chocolate!
