Please join me for an Orange Crush!

I am excited about this upcoming weekend-- it is always such a treat to see the children in their adorable little costumes!  Can't wait!  In the meantime, how about a little Orange Crush?

My first crush is this living room designed by Jeffrey Silberstein that features a mango sofa that runs the length of the wall. My heart is going pitter patter for the collage series "Ladder to Sky" by Berg.

This striking piece of contemporary art is Helen Frankenthaler's "Source" and it illuminates the room.  What an incredible piece of art.

This eclectic room designed by Cindy Ray Interiors is fab!  It is like an exotic port of call.

The final crush for the day is this beautiful orange door as seen on Apartment Therapy.

Perk Up

In this day of being busy busy busy, don't we all want to achieve the maximum results with the minimum effort? Adding punches of color to your room is an easy way to perk up your decor without a lot of effort.
3 Ways to Perk up your room with color:
  • Throw pillows- can energize your tired sofa or bed
  • Art work- a bold and beautiful piece of artwork can stimulate the eye
  • Add color to the floor with rugs

Bold black pillows and throw contrast the soft ivory and taupe bed.

Here is a beautiful illustration of using art to add a colorful punch to a room by designer Sam Cardella.

This work, Orchid-3, can add splash to any room.

Great Color Visualization Tool

According to the paint and color expert-Debbie Zimmer at Rohm and Haas,"Green may become the newest "neutral" color representing the growing environmental movement. Mid-tone hues of fern, palm, pine and sage will be used on their own or coupled with clear blue or aqua to create a living space that conjures up a sense of outdoor-friendly living. Sandy tan and adobe brown can be intermingled to complete that earthy and eco-friendly feel."

Most people have a hard time visualizing how a new paint color will look in their room. Well no more! There is a great tool online at Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute. They have about 100 room photos and over 300 paint colors for you to choose from so that you can see how the colors will look together in the room.
