Sarah O'Brien, a Louisiana Design Student won 1st place at the International Housewares Association's annual student design competition! She designed a flexible fruit bowl mad of polypropylene pockets that expand and close to accommodate individual pieces of fruit which helps extend the life of the individual pieces of fruit by minimizing bruising and the transfer of ethylene gas that causes over-ripening. The shape of the over sized pockets resembles a collar worn during the Elizabethan period leading to the name Elizabowl. Check out this video-- I'm sure these will be a wonderful addition to everyone's kitchen in the near future!
Congratulations Sarah!!!
